The Logan Square Ecumenical Alliance (LSEA) invites you to our Eighth Annual Occupy Palm Sunday Rally for Housing Equity on Sunday, April 14 from 12:30pm to 1:30pm at the Emmett Street Parking lot, 2630 N. Emmett Street!
For years, the churches and community organizations in Logan Square have been fighting to make Logan Square a home for everyone. As more and more luxury developments grow up around us and more and more people are pushed out and displaced by rising rents and property taxes, it is time to gather again as a community to say that Logan Square is our home! We are partnering with the Logan Square Neighborhood Association (LSNA) and United Neighbors of the 35th Ward (UN35) because our churches and our community needs housing equity so that Logan Square can be a home for all.
On Palm Sunday, churches around the world remember the day when Jesus rode on a donkey into Jerusalem, with the crowds shouting, "Hosanna!" There were those that tried to silence the Jesus movement, but Jesus replied, "I tell you, if these were silent, the stones would shout out.”
And we know that this movement for housing equity will not be silenced either. We will keep shouting out and showing up, waving our branches and lifting our voices, until Logan Square is home for all.
